Salt leave a residue in your carpets that cause them to look dull, cloudy and dirty. Salts also affect your hard surfaces by being abrasive and stripping your protective coating from wood and tile flooring. This affect will allow your flooring to be vulnerable to moisture, dirt and abrasions. There are several ways to prevent this from happening. the first is to schedule your cleaning appointments regularly. Also make sure you are vacuuming more often to remove these unwanted particles from your flooring. Secondly, use walk off mats at each entrance and remove shoes before going inside. Thirdly, the use of salt alternatives will help lessen the effects, however this does not prevent damage to your flooring. Finally, make sure you are using the appropriate amount of ice melting compounds.
